What is Wrong Here, Hard to find problem?

'00 Ford Contour SE 4 cylinder, 2.0 Engine Front Wheel Drive.

I have a problem where my car vibrates on the freeways and if l'm just driving on the streets, I can hear a low grinding sound... I was told I needed the sway bar links, transmission mounts %26amp; Motor mounts and lower control arms replaced. I have just replaced The Transmission %26amp; engine mounts last year. The sway bar links are covered with grease and the round ends have exposed metal. They said the rubber parts on the lower control arms where worn out. I posted pictures here so you can see the area's I'm talking about. The control arms look like they are lifted or seperated when the car is on the ground, is this how it suppose to look? the transmission is a little too close to the frame, is that normal? It's alot because I tried to get different views. I have changed the cv half shaft, wheel bearing, brake pads %26amp; rotors, and tires, on the side were the vibrating is coming from, but the problems continue. Could these two parts be what is causing the 2 problems if not what could it be? Thanks.

http://cossiomotorservice.com/Images/P10What is Wrong Here, Hard to find problem? If those bushings are toasted on the control arms, you need new arms. Those bushings can't be replaced. They are an integral part of the arm. The sway bar link would not be the problem. Someone trying to squeeze more money out of you. Also, replace the entire shaft and on both sides. Not just the half shaft. What is Wrong Here, Hard to find problem? If those bushings are worn that could definitely lead to a uneven/rough ride... and either way wouldn't hurt to replace them, specifically the control arms. What is Wrong Here, Hard to find problem?if you havent already check to see if a rim could be bent or even check the tires to make sure they are balanced

That is used to read whether the wheel is turning or the brakes locked up in a skid. That is most liely not your problem unless you feel the brakes pulsing. Take it to a mechanic at this point. Look at how much you spent for no reason.

How to Remove rear wheel from 1994chevy cavalier?

Right - simple enough as I've changed many a flat tire on most every make - done brake jobs etc

However - this beast will not come loose. It seems stuck or rusted on what I figure is a bearing cap.

Used lots of screwloose - wire brush and some force. To no avail.

There is no manual or special tool in the kit.

Word of mouth is it is a common problem.

Oh yeah, not my car, as common maintenence would have likely have prevented all this. How to Remove rear wheel from 1994chevy cavalier?here's what i've had to do many times. loosen the lugnuts out about 2 turns then drive it down your driveway a little and pull the parking brake (since that only stops the back wheels. don't go to fast. just 2-3 miles an hour (a medium role) do it a few times in forward and reverse untill it breaks loose.

yes, this has the potential to damage threads and is used as a last resort when a rubber mallet dosn't work (which i have found useless in the past.) if the lugnuts are only loosened a little and you don't drive it round the block, and just drive it a few feet up and down a driveway you will do no damage. How to Remove rear wheel from 1994chevy cavalier?I cant believe that guys said drive the car with the lugs loose. idiot. that can **** up the threads on the wheel studs. If your rim is rusted to the hub just get a rubber hammer and hit the side of the tire or rim. Should knock it right off.

Car is shaking and steering wheel feels loose...?

I have a 99 Hyundai Accent 5 speed. It is just under 91K miles. I bought it in September. I recently started noticing a shake and the steering wheel felt a little loose, but I just figured it was the tires, so I replaced 2 of the tires, and then went on a road trip (Virginia Beach to Central PA)..I still felt the shaking so I figured it needed balanced. So I took it to get it balanced and changed another tire in the process. But the shaking is still happening..it's at it worst when I hit about 60. I'll have my hands on the steering wheel trying to go straight, but it's like weaving slightly back and forth, with it leaning more toward the right. I started noticing it got really bad on my way home from PA and has gotten progressively worse since then. I've been looking on here and it seems like it's the wheel bearing or the ball joint. And it's weird how it shakes, because it's almost like it goes in a circle..It vibrates for 2 seconds, stops for 2 seconds, vibrates for 2 seconds, etc. I don't want to take it to the shop because my brother can fix what ever it is, it's just the fact that I don't want to drive this car to his house if it's something that could cause me to get in an accident, so could someone tell me what it possibly could be?? Thank you so much!Car is shaking and steering wheel feels loose...?Sound like a power steering rack problems . Have it checked along with you tie rod ends .Car is shaking and steering wheel feels loose...?get an alignment and have the components of the front end inspected....ball joints and tie rod ends to wear out .......

even a bent brake rotor can cause problems.Car is shaking and steering wheel feels loose...?It could be the ball joints or the wheel bearing the best thing to do is have it taken to a shop and have them just do an inspection, not only will that narrow down the problem but it may also be more than just one problem. when they check it out they can tell u everything wrong with the car, so ur brother can fix it for u. To have them do a complete inspection will cost about a 100$ depending on where you go, but can save u some time and hassle later, and also you can know what needs to be done on the car rather than just waiting untill something else breaks.

Rear wheel took a hit and now squeaks quite loud when I'm driving, except when brake is applied.?

I have a front wheel drive Mitsubishi 380. No too long ago the rear left wheel hit a curb quite hard. The wheel itself survived but now there is a loud squeaking noise coming from the rear wheel. The noise gets quite loud and only lessens as I apply the brakes. Even while driving slowly the squeaking occurs. Also, if I havent driven the car overnight or for a few hours it takes a bit of time for the squeaking to start. I have had a full wheel alignment done and they could not see what was causing the noise. From what I know it's most likely a damaged wheel bearing that is causing the problem but can anyone else suggest what else it could be and how much roughly repair would cost? I have also have the brake pads changed as I thought it couldbe contributing to the squeaking recently but the noise it still there just as before.

ThanksRear wheel took a hit and now squeaks quite loud when I'm driving, except when brake is applied.?it sounds like a bearing but could be the hub itself suggest you get the mechanic to look at it and give you a written estimate for the repairRear wheel took a hit and now squeaks quite loud when I'm driving, except when brake is applied.?it could be a wheel bearing or you broke something on the shoes.Rear wheel took a hit and now squeaks quite loud when I'm driving, except when brake is applied.?Im afraid it is a wheel bearing, I have changed a front bearing by removing the hub assembly and removing the axle nut, then I had to take the hub to have the bearing pressed out, 2hours labor in a shop and a $40 bearing, roughly $220 if I had had it done in a shop

  • Low Noise and electrical problem?

' 00 Ford Contour SE. Front wheel drive

My car has a low grinding noise any time I drive on the street or freeway. It only happens when I'm driving %26amp; not when parked in idle. The noise comes from one side of the car. It sounds like its metal grinding on metal but its not that loud. Its coming from under the pedals on the left side of the car. I have changed the wheel bearings %26amp; Cv shaft that goes from the wheel to the transmission. I was told it could be the hub assembly, is that true, can a worn out or damaged hub assembly cause the noise? Since i replaced the wheel bearing and left the hub assembly there, do i now have to replace the wheel bearing too? what can it be? maybe the tie rod?

    electrical problem -

the power locks control switch on the driver %26amp; front passenger side doors don't work, they don't lock any of the doors. How can i find the problem?

Thank You.Low Noise and electrical problem?I'm not all that sure about your noise problem but on your electrical is probably a fuse or like some dealerships they unplug the cord to the switch to make more money off of you. Check your fuses and if thats not it take the door panels off and see if they are unplugged.HOPE IT HELPED!!!
